Encompassing the historic Boettcher House in this 110-acre park, the Lookout Mountain Nature Center offers a variety of services to visitors. Programs are available for all ages of people, as well as numerous nature trails, some linking to nearby Apex and Windy Saddle parks and the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave. Armory Building Constructed in 1913, Golden's Armory remains one of the largest cobblestone buildings in the United States. It is estimated that 3,000 wagon loads of cannonball-sized stones were brought from Clear Creek and the Golden Gate Canyon to build the structure. Eisenhower Suite at Fitzsimons is the unit that President Dwight D. Eisenhower lived in for two months while recovering from a heart attack.
